Antiproliferative Effect of Plant-Derived Bioactive Compounds Endowed with Antioxidant Activity on Breast Cancer Cells

چکیده
Several lines of evidence indicate that plant-derived antioxidant compounds can be used as anticancer agents to support conventional pharmacological therapy. In this context, heme-oxygenase-1 (HO-1) modulation has been proven represent a valid approach for reducing cancer cells’ proliferation through the activation apoptosis and ferroptosis. This study focused on three little studied HO-1 inducers (paeonol, rosolic acid dimethoxy resveratrol) in order evaluate their efficacy antiproliferative breast cells (MCF-7 MDA-MB 231). Cell viability data showed an interesting selectivity resveratrol (DMR) 231 cells. The ineffectiveness Ferrostatin-1 Trolox treatment led exclusion ferroptosis involvement; meanwhile, cell reduction was associated with caspase 3/7 apoptosis. Taken together, our results suggest potential role DMR adjuvant chemotherapy treatment.

The Effect of Plant-derived Compounds in Targeting Cancer Stem Cells
Background Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a small subpopulation of cancer cells with self-renewal and differentiation ability. Furthermore, CSCs are resistant to chemoradiotherapy due to their high level of detoxifying enzymes, strong DNA repair abilities, and high drug efflux capacity. Objective Therefore, CSCs are supposed to account for cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, recurrence, ...
متن کاملPomegranate ellagitannin-derived compounds exhibit antiproliferative and antiaromatase activity in breast cancer cells in vitro.
Estrogen stimulates the proliferation of breast cancer cells and the growth of estrogen-responsive tumors. The aromatase enzyme, which converts androgen to estrogen, plays a key role in breast carcinogenesis. The pomegranate fruit, a rich source of ellagitannins (ET), has attracted recent attention due to its anticancer and antiatherosclerotic properties. On consumption, pomegranate ETs hydroly...
متن کاملdetection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts
in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
Antiproliferative Activity of Bioactive Compounds from Mushrooms of Indian Isolates
Biodiversity study on mushrooms of basidiomycetes was initiated and more than seven hundred species were described by Natarajan and associates during 1975-2008 from South India. But the bio-documentation of many medicinal mushrooms were initiated a decade ago by Vaidya and associates from Western India, Janardhanan and associates from Kerala and Kaviyarasan and associates from South India.
